Gathered Garden Crafts
I use gathered natural materials from my garden, farms and forest. I use a polymer clay to hand sculpt the visible body parts of “faeries.” Then I put it all together— corn cob body, hickory nut “brain,” a bird skull warrior helmet, mosses, pine cones, acorn tops, fungi, leather strips, a fossil tooth for a spear head, turkey feathers or horse hair for faerie hair, that sort of thing. I try to make the figures so they can hold or present something— a crystal, a bundle of herbs, a scepter or a spear—that the owner could switch out with mood or season for something else. They’re surprisingly sturdy. Not a toy, for sure—but “approachable,” for decor.
